Jessie & Art’s Engagement Session at Fifer Orchards – Dover, Delaware

Saturday, December 3rd, 2011

Jessie & Art chose Wyoming, Delaware near Dover, for their fall engagement photos. They first mentioned Wyoming Mill Pond, but after driving around the area for a bit, I passed by Fifer Orchards and was quickly excited by all of the beautiful color and sunlight beaming through the exhausted peach trees. I am so thankful to the people at Fifer Orchards for allowing me to shoot these photos on their property.

The setting couldn’t have been a more perfect for the fall backdrop that Jessie & Art were hoping for!

Rebecca & Tim’s Engagement at Rocks State Park – Maryland

Thursday, July 21st, 2011

I feel so lucky that Rebecca and Tim chose Rocks State Park as the location for their engagement photos in early spring of this year. I had never been to this location or even heard of it before Rebecca asked that their photos be taken there. Not only is it gorgeous, but the area is important to Rebecca because she spent a lot of time there when she was younger. In fact, if it weren’t for Rebecca’s efforts, this local treasure wouldn’t be a part of the Maryland State Park system. Rebecca, along with other students in her school, helped fund the purchase of this land by the state, which prevented the area from potentially being turned into a development. Could you imagine this beautiful waterfall becoming a part of some neighborhood’s community property? The waterfall and the nearby “King and Queen Seat” can also be seen in the movie “Tuck Everlasting.”

This was a very adventuresome engagement shoot. We hiked quite a way to get to the falls and in trying to get -below- the falls, we had to cross a tree that had fallen over the river. We even passed a few snakes along the way (I saw -one-… but I know there must have been more!! hah!!)

Trisha & Brandon’s Engagement at Gunpowder Falls State Park – Maryland

Tuesday, July 19th, 2011

Trisha and Brandon requested Gunpowder Falls State Park in Maryland as the location for their Fall engagement shoot. From these engagement portraits set against a colorful fall backdrop, we created an the engagement album / wedding guestbook they used during their reception. The wonderful thing about using an engagement album as wedding guestbook is that wedding guests sign the album much like you would a high school yearbook. Instead of merely a book of signatures, you get a book filled with beautiful sentiments and well wishes from your friends and family. This keepsake is something you’ll be more likely to put on your coffee table and reminisce with throughout the years than would be done with a traditional signature based guestbook.

Melissa & Will’s Engagement at Battery Park in Old New Castle – Delaware

Saturday, October 23rd, 2010

I will be photographing Melissa and Will’s wedding this November, and they chose Old New Castle as the location for their engagement session. I love this little town so much because of the rich history surrounding so many of the buildings. This is the town where William Penn first landed in ‘The New World.’ In fact, the anniversary of his landing is right around the corner – October 27, 1682. Since I first moved to the Mid-Atlantic area around 11 years ago, Old New Castle has always been one of my favorite local treasures to explore.

One of my favorite parts of our day – perfect for Halloween – was this creepy decoration staring out onto the street below. Thanks to Melissa and Will for letting me indulge in a little of my macabre sense of humor.

I can’t wait to see how beautiful Melissa looks on her wedding day!!

Crystal and Dan’s Engagement at Federal Hill – Maryland

Thursday, September 9th, 2010

I met Crystal and Dan at Trisha and Brandon’s wedding in May. I’m so excited that they hired me to be the photographer for their wedding in 2011!

Crystal and Dan chose Baltimore for their engagement portrait location and Crystal mentioned wanting photos in front of the “LOVE” letters at the American Visionary Art Museum. While searching around online to check the place out, I learned about the Baltimore Love Project, so before we headed to the museum, we took a few photos in front a Baltimore Love Project wall. It was just a “lovely” day all around. :)

I’m so lucky to have a wonderful husband who was willing to tag along and carry some stuff for me – most importantly, my lights, so that I could try out a few new things. I am very happy with how the off camera flash wall photos turned out! I hope my vision is what Crystal hoped for when requesting this location!

Julia & Caleb’s Engagement Guestbook – Dover, Delaware

Monday, May 10th, 2010

In early April I met Julia and Caleb in Dover, Delaware and we rode around to several interesting locations to take some engagement photos for their wedding guestbook. We had a nice day driving around and stopping at various out of the way places to take photos. When I gave Julia a little sneak peak via Facebook she wrote, “Blonnie—These are sooooo beautiful!!! Wow!! I’m speechless!! Thank you soo much!” I’m so happy she likes them and she seemed equally as happy when she picked up her album today! :)

Below are the spreads from their wedding day guestbook with the images I created from the day. Stay tuned: soon I’ll post some pictures of the actual album after printing. I know they’re both excited (as am I) for their wedding this coming Saturday!
